about

Becca:
This song for me embodies the mantra of Tillery... the reason why we are friends, who we are, and why we make music. When I think back on the first time we sang this song together, I remember feeling completely lost in the final harmonies of the song and in the blended textures of our voices. Magic.

Rebecca:
This is a tune of mine - and in fact, it was the very first song that we did together around my kitchen table. I think Gretchen has it somewhere. It's a stunning documentation of our chemistry - and it was immediate.

Gretchen:
I hold this song dear to my heart, it has the deepest meaning and sentiment for me with Tillery. Being the first song we ever sang together, i remember feeling it was an immediate sign that it was our calling to create a band. i get very nostalgic hearing it, it sparks vivid memories of august at Rebecca’s home, the sound of Ciccadas outside, the smells of her cooking, the feeling of being the person i was then compared to now.
A masterpiece of songwriting.

lyrics

GOD IS IN THE DETAILS
Rebecca Martin

In the wake of early morning
Is the crushing task before her
So she’s up before she wants to
And he’s deep inside his pillow

There’s no God that’s in her corner
O, but God is in the details
All the small things go unnoticed
In the certainty of slowing

Stay if you want
Don’t change your mind again

For the sake of never knowing
She imagines life alone
Like her youth it’s all romantic
In its innocence and madness

Stay if you want.
Don’t change your mind again

In her time she’ll stand open
Out in the world like she’s never been
Alone but a part of everything
There’s nothing wrong
Just be. The signs are all deserving.

What’s creeping in?
The need to change
So what has always been is not repeated
