BECCA:
This is one of the first arrangements I worked on with Gretchen. I remember the day she brought this to me, and we were working out the accompaniment together. I was so inspired by the clarity of her vision. Before the arrangement was complete, she could hear everything she wanted in her mind.
REBECCA:
Another song that Gretchen brought in early on. Maybe near the very beginning of our singing together. She and Becca had gone to the Michael Jackson memorial at the Apollo theater in early 2010. Maybe it was only a couple of months in to the two knowing each other as I recall. I always have associated this song with their experience that night.
GRECHEN:
I’ve always loved this song, becca and i played a duo version of this at a michael jackson tribute at harlem stage some years back, and i thought id would be fitting to bring it to tillery.
lyrics
PUSH ME AWAY
M. Jackson, R. Jackson, S. E. Jackson, M. Jackson, T. Jackson
Live and sigh, crying eyes
Your touch, your heart, your warmth lullaby
Live to dream, don't it seem
The tears, the pain,
Reality
Don't you know
These dreams i wish could be
The real you and me
I come running back to you
You push me away, you push
You push me away
Darken days, go away
The nights are bright, dream and stay
As i dream loving you
Your touch, your heart, your warmth
Please come true
Don't you know
These dreams i wish could be
The real you and me
I come running back to you
You push me away, you push
You push me away

Tillery is a uniquely gifted trio that combines the diverse talents of three respected vocalist-songwriters, Becca Stevens,
Rebecca Martin and Gretchen Parlato.
Together, on Tillery's long-awaited, self-titled first collective album, the three artists tap into a powerful collaborative chemistry that's more than the sum of its considerable parts....more
A story of sadness, confusion, and despair ending in hope and certainty that the cosmos is not a random and meaningless jumble of atoms populated by mindless mechanical men, but a world of meaning, beauty, and truth. Emotions and the heart are not everything, but they are an essential part of being human. ianjworsomething
Beautiful album. Absolutely no filler tracks, and every tune is a character that stands out. Perfectly combines scripted melody with inspired and well played solos. Aaron Parks is a storyteller, and every song on this album is a chapter in one epic tale. ianjworsomething
Incredible drumming, and the whole band creates some unusual but memorable grooves.
The guitar player also looks like Thomas Dolby's cousin or nephew. imabuddha
